FAQs What is a template? Why
do I want to use a template? Do
I own the template? Could
someone else use the same template? Can
I transfer my website to someone else? Do
I have to renew my license? What
are my annual costs?
What is a template? A
template is framework for a website. There are places for text, photos/graphics,
company name and logo. Think of it as a new house, all the rooms are built for
you, but you decide what color you will paint the walls, which pictures you will
hang and what furniture you will have in each room. You get to customize how your
house or your website will look to meet your needs and individual preferences.
Why
do I want to use a template? Templates are an
excellent way to get a professionally designed website at a fraction of the cost
of having a designer create one just for you. Back in the 90s anyone that learned
a little HTML (that's the language or code used to tell the Internet how to display
a website, what color the background is, what style font, etc) hung out a shingle
and started to sell websites. Well they might have had the technical know-how
to build a site, but many had limited design abilities. We started to see a lot
of websites that were difficult to read and had no continuity. (Perhaps you had
or still have one of those websites) Today software has made it easier to create
websites without knowing much HTML, but you either have design sense or you don't.
Using a template gives you access to the work of some of the best professional
designers around, at an affordable cost.
Do I
own the template? No, you do not own the template.
You have a license to use the template for the purpose of creating this one website
for your business/organization.
Could someone
else use the same template? Yes, it is possible
that someone else has, is or will use the same template that you have chosen.
But, by the time we are done customizing the template to include your text, your
logo, your photos, your company name and your company colors, your website will
be unlike any other out there on the Internet. And, with over 80,000,000 websites
on the Internet today, it is very unlikely that you or anyone else will ever see
more than one website like yours.
Can I transfer
my website to someone else? Yes, you may
transfer your website under its current name to someone else. But you can not
transfer or give a copy of your website for someone else to use for a different
application. They would be required to get their own license to use the template
for their different use.
Do I have to renew my
license every year? Nope. The license you get
when first signing up is good for the life of your website.
What
are my annual costs? You will have some ongoing
costs to keep a website. There are required costs and optional costs. Required:
Hosting - $75/year Domain Registration - $10/year
Optional:
Updates Marketing
